Keystone JOB CORPS CENTER

Meet the McPhails

Meet Kareem and Haneef McPhail, brothers who are both Work-Based Learning students at Adams’ Keystone Job Corps Center. Originally from Philadelphia, they came to the Keystone campus in April 2023. Both brothers interviewed with Krieger Construction Company, and after completing their WBL experience, were offered full-time positions! Before leaving Center, both brothers were able to purchase a car of their own as well as sign a lease on an apartment.

OA/CTS Coordinator Jill Payne had the opportunity to sit down with the brothers and reflect on their time at Job Corps.

Ms. Payne: How have the things you have learned during your time at Job Corps helped you to be successful in your time at Krieger?

Kareem: “I really liked the structure of the program because that structure allowed me to ultimately have success now at my job. It taught me not only the academics and training but the life skills I needed to be successful.”

Ms. Payne: What is your advice for other students?

Haneef: “If you are here to have fun, enjoy your time there, but if you want change, be prepared to leave as a new person, and that person can and will find success.”
